Republic India

26th January,1950 - A day of great importance in the Indian History as it was on this day, the Constitution came into force and India became a truly sovereign and republic country. The country realized the dreams of Mahatma Gandhi and the numerous freedom fighters who sacrificed their lives for the independence of the country. After India got its independence on 15th August 1947, a drafting committee was appointed to draft a permanent Constitution under the chairmanship of Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar. This Constitution was enforced in India on 26th January 1950 and this day has been celebrated as the Republic Day since then.
Since 1950, India has been moving towards greater heights to soon emerge a global superpower. In these 63 years, India has made its mark in almost every field, whether it is economy, sports, academics, films, culture or science and technology. Talking about the Indian economy, it has a vibrant capital market. The Indian GDP rate has expanded to 6.2% in the last quarter of 2011. Our literacy rate has risen up to 70.04% which is a big milestone. We all have heard of the Global Recession and the Euro Problem, but the Indian Economy is still strengthened. There is high demand of the Indian products in the international market. In games and sports also, India has made a remarkable achievement. We won the 2011 Cricket World Cup and about 101 medals in the recently held Commonwealth Games in New Delhi. Not only this, the Indian scientists and teachers are highly demanded and respected all over the world. The European educational system idealizes the Indian educational system.
Once Barrack Obama addressed a gathering asking the Americans to wake up or otherwise the Indians would overpower them. The President of such a superpower country addressing us as a threat to them is itself enough to conclude everything.
Definitely, India is suffering from some serious obstacles such as- poverty, corruption, unemployment and terrorism. But, if we all realize our responsibilities and work together for the same, soon we can overcome from these menaces easily. Dr. Man Mohan Singh once said, "While there is much to be proud of in our record of past 60 years, the unfinished agenda should make humble and energize to work together. The emerging challenges at home and at the globe should make us firm in our resolve to be united and to be competitive."
So, to conclude, I would say that the need of the hour is the feeling of fraternity and respect towards one another. With this, let us hope that the dream of our former President, Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam of a developed India by 2020 will come true and we all should resolve to be a part of this.
        JAI HIND!!!
